Sewer is your wastewater. Essentially that means "used" water from any plumbing fixture, including in the kitchen, laundry, bathroom, sinks etc.
A sewerage system is built up of underground pipes which collects and disposes the wastewater from residential and commercial property.
Stormwater systems collects rainwater run-off and channels it into gutters, downpipes, stormwater pits, channel grates and drains to join our waterways.
Why separate?
It is important that sewer and stormwater remain two separate systems for both yours and the community's health and safety.
If stormwater makes its way into the sewerage system, the high concentration of water can lead to an overflow of raw sewage (not pleasant, and can result in a serious pollution incident). This happens more often then you would expect, resulting from mistakes of cross-connection.
Ironhat Plumbing are experienced professionals who have the skills to assist you if this has occurred.
